The Essentials of a Skincare Routine
A basic skincare routine doesn’t need to be complicated. With just a few steps, you can maintain healthy, glowing skin. Below is a beginner-friendly guide split into an AM (morning) and PM (evening) routine. Adjust based on your skin type and needs.
🌤 Morning Routine
Cleanser (Optional)
Use a gentle cleanser if your skin feels oily or sweaty. Otherwise, rinsing with water is fine.
Moisturizer (Optional)
Apply a lightweight moisturizer if your skin feels dry. If your sunscreen is moisturizing, you can skip this.
Sunscreen (Required)
Always apply sunscreen when UV index is above 2. Reapply every 2 hours if you're outside.
🌙 Evening Routine
Oil Cleanser / Micellar Water
Use if you wore makeup or sunscreen. This helps dissolve buildup before your main cleanse.
Second Cleanse
Follow with a gentle gel/cream cleanser to remove remaining residue and prep your skin for moisturizer. Use same one for both AM & PM.
Moisturizer
Seal in hydration overnight. Use a rich cream for dry skin, or a gel if your skin is oily.
✨ Final Tips
- Use non-comedogenic ingredients: Avoid pore-clogging products. You can check ingredients onINCI Decoder.
- If you have sensitive skin: Avoid products with fragrance or essential oils.
- Add one product at a time: Introduce new products slowly and observe your skin’s reaction for at least 2 weeks.
- Double cleansing is more important than you think: Especially if you wear sunscreen or makeup.
